Support for people who are abusive

Domestic Abuse Services work with men and can help you change if you are abusive and you don’t want to be. We offer a service to men including those who have been convicted of domestic abuse offences and also those who have not.  Domestic Abuse Services aim to help you:

  • understand why you have been abusive
  • take responsibility for your behaviour and attitudes
  • take responsibility in your relationship with your partner or ex-partner and children
  • behave positively

We have worked with a lot of men and understand how hard it is to ask for help. When you decide that you need to change you have already taken the most important step. Your partner and children have the right to feel safe around you.

If you are worried about your behaviour, contact us to speak to someone call 0131 469 5325 or email

Justice Services also have a women’s service for partners and ex-partners of men who engage in our service. We do not work with men and women side by side as couples.

Men convicted of domestic abuse

The Caledonian Men’s Programme is an accredited programme to help men convicted of domestic abuse against female partners to change their behaviour and forms part of the Caledonian System approach. Men convicted of a domestic abuse offence can take part as part of a Community Payback Order from the court.

At the court's request, you will meet with one of our workers to see if you are suitable for the programme. We will ask you about your behaviour and why you want to change.

The programme is part of the Caledonian system and you can find out on the Scottish Government website.
