Blue and green spaces
From creating new green spaces to sustainable housing design, we’ll focus on the health of people and places.
We’re planning around 16 hectares of new green space. By connecting to and enhancing existing green space, we will create one of Europe’s largest coastal parks from Lauriston Castle and Cramond to Granton. This will link to the proposal to create around 17 kilometres of waterfront promenade from Cramond to Portobello.
This will bring the total green space in the development to over 200 hectares. This will provide opportunities for improving mental and physical wellbeing.
We will weave space for nature into the fabric of the whole community through
- streets and buildings
- active travel routes
- green corridors
- the new coastal park
- the link to 17km of waterfront promenade
- tree planting.
We also expect to attract around 700,000 visitors for leisure, including
- walking
- cycling
- water sports
- sailing.
