Space counselling and art therapy

Sometimes it can be good to talk to someone who is not in your family or one of your friends. You can meet our counsellors in an accessible, safe and supportive place, and share your problems, worries and things that are going on in your life.

If you find it hard to open up and discuss your feelings you can choose activities like drawing, painting or clay. This can help you to make sense of your emotions and support your wellbeing.

Suitable for 5 to 24 years (26 if care experienced)

Time for me

Time for Me is an eight-week life skills course which will help you develop personal tools to deal with life’s challenges.

You will have time to think and learn about how your thoughts, feelings and behaviours are linked. Understanding these links can help to reduce your anxiety or anger, improve your wellbeing and build resilience and confidence. You can do the course on your own or as a part of a group.

Mental health and wellbeing workshops

Learning about how to look after your mental health is an important skill for everyone to have. These workshops cover topics on mental health such as

  • understanding and managing stress and anxiety
  • managing wellbeing
  • mental health awareness.

You will also learn other ways to look after your own mental health, how to seek help and how to support others.

Suitable for 11 to 18 years

Times and venue

  • Various times, 90 min sessions, community venues or online

That’s me

Do you sometimes struggle with your mental health or have strong feelings about things that have happened in your past?  

We offer individual support where you can share your problems, worries and things that are going on in your life.  This can help you to make sense of your emotions, reduce distress and support your wellbeing.

There is also the option to meet other young people for social and physical activities.

Suitable for

  • 13 and 18 years who are struggling with mental health or distressing feelings about childhood experiences
  • family, parents and carers

Welcome through football

If you are a refugee or migrant now living in Edinburgh it can be difficult to make new friends, learn the language and cope with the many changes and challenges. This programme is to help make settling in easier and happier. You will meet other young people aged 15 to 24 to play football and other group activities. We can also give you one-to-one support with education, employment and volunteering. 

Times and venue

  • 2-hour sessions, Tynecastle Park and other sports pitches

People’s Health and Emotional Wellbeing Groups (PHEW)

PHEW groups support 18 to 26-year-olds to improve their emotional well-being.

You will meet other young adults in a safe and friendly place with group activities and learning designed to support you to improve your emotional wellbeing.

We can also offer you someone to support depending on what you need and when you are free.

Suitable for 18 to 26 years

Times and venue

  • Thursdays 6pm to 8pm, Broomhouse hub or other community venues

Once we have your request, someone will be in touch with the adult who helped you within 2 weeks to discuss it further.

Young Carers

There are an estimated 29,000 young carers in Scotland. Being a young carer can mean different things to different people. Perhaps you might support a relative or a friend from time to time or be responsible for providing care for an adult at home for most of every week. If you think you might be a young carer it can be helpful to speak to an adult you trust about it. If you aren’t sure if you are a young carer 

If you are a young carer you are entitled to support. There are three young carer services in Edinburgh. They work together across the whole of Edinburgh and each service covers a different area.  offers support to children and young people aged from five to 25 in South West Edinburgh who care for their family members. Some of the ways they can support you include one-on-one support, groups and other activities.

The Youth Agency 

Pyramid Drop In  

The Youth Agency provides a drop-in programme from the Pyramid Youth Centre.  The Pyramid provides a place for you to meet friends that is unstructured and informal.  Drop-in sessions are self-directed so you can connect with others and do activities you enjoy. 

  • For ages 8 years to those in P6 - Tuesdays 6-8 pm 
  • For those in S3 to age 18 - Wednesdays 7-9 pm 
  • For those in P7 to S2 - Thursdays 7-9pm

Time to Talk 

‘Time to Talk’ aims to support and improve young people’s mental health and wellbeing across Edinburgh.  If you are a young person aged 12 - 25 and want to talk about anything, then the Youth Agency are here for you. If you are a parent or carer, you can refer your child to the service as well as find out about support available for you across the city.

Youth Vision 

Staying on Track

This is a skills development programme for young people who are entering the senior phase of their education, aged 16+, based at Youth Vision’s 18th Century farm steading in the Pentland Hills. Staying on Track runs on Wednesdays throughout the school term, from 10 am – 4 pm. Youth Vision provides pick-ups and drop-offs.

Walk and Talk

Walk and Talk is a 6-week block, 1 hour per week and provides 1;1 support, as well as home/school visits. The group offers family/school support working alongside young people/families and education. It also includes working with those who have left school and attend Youth Vision groups.

Saturday Wilderness

Saturday Wilderness is Youth Vision’s Saturday programme of outdoor activities and informal education for young people aged 13 and above, from 10-4 pm. This outdoor club links with the 18th-century farm cottage up the Pentland hills throughout the summer/ term times and Winter wilderness meets fortnightly at Wester Hailes Quarry Park.   Youth Vision provides pick-ups from central points and drop-offs before and after.
