In 2014 the Council entered into a contract with Urban Union to deliver over 700 new mixed tenure homes. Around half are affordable with the remainder for private sale.
The homes are spread across a number of sites and are grouped into four phases. The goal is to create a diverse and sustainable community with a good range of housing options close to local amenities.
Progress to date:
- Phase 1 was completed in January 2017. A total of 193 homes, 64 for social rent, 44 for mid market and 85 for sale.
- Phase 2 was completed in December 2018. A total of 177 homes, 75 for social rent and 102 for sale.
- Phase 3 is currently under construction and expected to complete in 2024. This is the largest phase with a total of 315 homes made up of 84 social rent, 97 mid market and 134 for sale
- Phase 4 is currently at the design stage and will be around 99 homes for sale. It is expected to complete in 2024.
The affordable homes are let either directly through the Council’s Edindex choice based letting system or advertised through Umega Lettings.
