Notification of changes to the traffic management arrangements between Pilrig Street and Annandale Street / Montgomery Street

Read more about the traffic management changes in this section

Main construction works are nearing completion in the above locations on the east side of Leith Walk. This will result in the removal of fence lines and two-way traffic returning between the above locations from Monday 18 July 2022. Leith Walk will remain closed to all northbound traffic between Foot of The Walk and Pilrig Street.

Traffic management arrangements have been approved jointly with members of the city's Traffic Management Review Panel, including Lothian Buses and the emergency services. Diversion routes and advanced warning signage will be erected in the area.

Supporting Local Businesses & Logistic Provision

Logistics provisions to support businesses will remain operational on Montgomery Street, Albert Street, Dalmeny Street and near Foot of the Walk to help with deliveries and dispatches. Help is also at hand at these logistic hubs for residents expecting large deliveries such as appliances or furniture.

Parking and access

Please be advised that the Traffic Regulation Order will be enforced from the above date. We would like to remind all road users that there is no stopping or waiting on the new carriage way, including tram tracks that have been installed. Loading and parking provisions are available.

Cycling

The newly constructed cycle lanes on the east (southbound) and west side (northbound) of Leith Walk will remain closed as there will be ongoing localised works. This will involve small worksites with localised diversions in place.  Access to properties will be maintained.
